Get in the Story

April 7, 2019 (by Daniel Panton)

The Bible tells us that Satan is the ruler of the world we live in. He never sleeps, takes vacations, or plays fair. He never tells the truth, and ultimately his mission is to kill, steal, and destroy. In case you haven’t been reading the news lately, he’s doing a great job. For most people living today, the world seems hopeless and the majority of people are stuck in brokenness.

“The gates of hell will not be able to prevail against the church.”

Jesus

But the story is not over… Jesus came into the broken world we live in to make a way of escape back into the perfect plan of God! Through the shedding of His blood mankind has hope! For everyone who repents of their sins and puts their faith in Jesus Christ alone, they are granted forgiveness and eternal life!

But is that all? Does the new creation in Christ go about his or her life as usual until Jesus comes back? Jesus gives us the priviledge to become His very own ambassadors and sends us right back into the broken world He rescued us out of. His church is called the light of the world, and Jesus tells us that we will be like a city on a hill that cannot be hidden!

Last weekend, the Kyrios Team had the great privilege to help equip and train the Evangeliumsgemeinde in Vienna Austria in the Fivefold ministry! There was a genuine hunger amongst the 20 people who came out to learn about how Jesus gave His church special gifts (people) who operate in the apostolic, prophetic, evangelistic, shepherding, and teaching roles so that unity and maturity take place in the church.

Nate, Rebecca and Danny were able to take the church on an adventure in the 5-Fold teaching and equipping workshop which led to some major breakthroughs in individual lives, as well as the corporate body. It was humbling to share with pastors, elders, deacons, and the body as many were much older than us, but nevertheless, all were eager to learn and grow!

It’s important that all five areas are active and acknowledged in the body of Christ and in the local church because…
…Jesus united all five in himself while he was on this earth and we are called to become more and more like him.

As time went on, we saw many light bulbs go off as many began to come alive as they got to put into practice the content they were learning in the different exercises we did in three small groups. In the Apostolic exercise, each group was given the task to come up with a brand new ministry that the church body could get involved with, with 500 Euros of hypothetical money and three months time. It was inspiring to see how passionate and creative each group was as they presented their ideas with the whole group. One group came up with a ministry that they named “Open door.” The team identified the loneliness in Vienna amongst the many different people groups. They came up with the idea to rent out a building each month where there would be an open door publicly to everyone who wanted to meet other people. The goal was that the church would be facilitating the place with the prayer to build relationships which would lead to sharing the Gospel! We pray that ideas like this would catch wind, and the body of Christ would mobilize long after the workshop is over!

What I am taking away from this workshop is that I want to serve God and the Church with all that I have.

Now more than ever before, I believe the Church needs to rise up to meet the Devil head on. If we want to see change, it has to start from within. People need to understand that they can get in the story, God’s story, and this starts with each member of the body working together in their calling!

Please keep this church in Vienna in prayer as they continue to discover who they are in Christ, and march into the enemy’s territory to take back what belongs to Jesus!
